Hi, I am new to this forum. My 50th has a fast idle problem. It idle's about 2000rpm at start and can (but not always) drop down to 1200rpm, but never 800rpm. Have changed the Throttle Position Sensor, Stepping Motor and the hose from the Rocker to Plenum. Will replace hose from Rocker to Ram Housing when it arrives. My mates Bearmach HawkEye Diagnostic shows no fault codes. Not done anything around the MAF yet.

Is this a typical vacuum type problem? Everything else seems okay.

Also, does anything need resetting internally after something like the Throttle Position Sensor has been changed?

Is there a good way of finding a 'vacuum' leak?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I have had this on and off for about 10 years on mine. in my case it has always been the battery on its way out.

im not technical enough to know why but a new one has always cured this for me.

Might be worth a try

If you have moved the throttle position sensor it will need resetting in the ECU with one of the diagnostic tools. Nanocom is the one I have.

Thanks Mike B.
Is it the NCOM17 Unlock Code pack I would need In addition to the Nanocom Evolution for Defender 50th & 90 NAS kit?
Thanks in advance.

Mine is NCOM12, unlock codes for Defender Systems. Might be worth contacting them to make sure.

Well, I ended up purchasing a Lynx Evo 2 diagnostic. Sure enough, resetting the Throttle idle speed worked. Have also got a Mark Adams chipped ECU which makes a great difference in mid range performance. All good now and thanks again to those members who helped me.
