Hi people,
I am looking to sell my 50th and I don't think the dealerships are going to give me an honest value at the present time so I am after your advice.
This is a really heart breaking event, I absolutely love her, it's taken me all over the UK, never missing a beat, but we are expecting a child in May and we have to change our vehicles.
She's been maintained by the Guys at the LR Centre in Liverpool since I got her two years ago from RKG Landrovers.
I have put on Magnatec leads, a Kenlowe fan, Heated wing mirrors Scorpion Racing Anti-roll bars, 5 Durango tyres with about 10K on 4 of them, a new bull bar and bumper and a Goat 4X4 center console.
I've changed the oil and filter every 6K and use Magnatec oil.
She has 71K on the clock, is what I would call an honest Land Rover, she's been used as a Land Rover is meant to be, but loved and maintained properly.
I would like to hear your opinions on a value and if you want to know anything else before recommending a value just ask!
Many thanks in advance people for your advice.

Hi James.
Do you have any pictures of your 50th you could send me?
Been looking out for a 50th for a while so could be interested in a good clean example.
My email is chris@cjbcomm.co.uk if you want to send them over.

Hi James,
My solution when we had our First child was as follows:
1) Procure car seat to fit front seat of D90 TD5 County XS (we went for a Maxi Cosi at the time)
2) Enjoy small family and (not enjoy) sitting in the back of the D90 on family trips
Once we were having our second what we ended up doing (more or less) was:
1) sell D90
2) procure big family car
3) procure D90 50th
4) Be happy
The sum cost of the 2 vehicles needn't have been, but was, more than the sale price of my previous D90, because I always end up over spending the budget, but we ended up happy. We now have 3 small 'uns.
In other words, do you really need to sell? _________________ * ex-owner GB201 * |

If you are going to get a trade in value from a main dealer then take some valium and some tissues with you...
When I sold mine the negotiation started at £5,000
Ended up at about £7000 against an £18k Defender 110 TD5.
Mine was in very nice condition with full LRSH and 72,000 miles with some very nice mods like RAID shocks, Qt rods, Brembo discs on it.
Bloody heartbreaking it was...
This is one of the last photo's I took of the old girl...

If the main reason for the sale is about putting a baby seat in, you could do this (below) and keep the 50th!
It took a good while to fit the new Defender seats in, but it was worth it! We have a forward facing Britax child seat for our 21 month old - it fits nicely.

Hey,
Sorry for time taken to reply, I've actually not been near a computer for the last few days, it's amazing how much relief a few days away can give the old square eyes!!
Thank you very much for your replies and suggestions!
Unfortunately, keeping it really is out of the question. We're wanting something that can carry, the 'three' of us, a large dog and all the gear we carry around (usually involves mountain bikes). Plus my wife wants to use the vehicle for work, which as she's an independent midwife and does quite a high mileage will mean that the cost of running it would be too high.
wholejobs and SFDM I will get some new photos taken and mail them to you. It will take me a couple of days though, as work is crazy at the moment!
Cheers again everybody for your advice and the photos of your lovely looking 50ths'.
Cheers

I thought that I would just let you know the price I've settled on to advertise my 50th.
I've decided on £8500 ONO
Anybody who is interested please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers again everybody for all your responses to this thread. _________________ GB 381 |

Just an update,
I've had an offer of £6K from a private buyer, I'd rather have more really!
The dealership offered me £2500 at first so I went back to them and asked them if they realized that it was a 50th, within an hour they were back to me offering £5K...still negotiating!
The market is really bad, am considering keeping it, declaring it SORN and putting it on Fire and Theft only for a wee bit.
Just wondering what your thoughts are? Am I being a bit optimistic on the value? _________________ GB 381 |

Really, really sorry to hear that...
I did warn you about the dealers, your heart must have sank at that price...
It is bloody ridiculous...
I would hold out for a while if you can, you should get more than £6k for it. |

Cheers, you did warn me!
I must admit that I felt a really stunned and then after some minor ranting and general lambasting thought Oh well, I get to enjoy the V8 purr for a bit longer!
That kind of soothes the soul!

JBF. I have commented in the past that 50ths tend to be over-priced, but I feel that £6000 is under-priced, unless the condition is poor. The garage price of £5,000 is just abuse. Hold out for £8,000 private. Look at the prices Nene sells them for. Yes, it's a dealer, yes they clean them up - but people still buy them. Good luck.

Barry,
I'm trying to hold out for £8K, I feel it's a realistic value. It's not in mint condition, but then at 73K it's going to have a few signs of age. Generally though she's in good condition and she's always been maintained properly.
Nene does tend to have them on at a lot of money! As you say I've just got to keep on advertising and wait for a serious offer.
Cheers for the Good Luck wishes! _________________ GB 381 |

Hi,
Did you sell this in the end?
I've had by 90 300tdi stolen and written off and I'd be very interested in a 50th as I've fancied one for a while. |
