It has been my privilege to be the custodian of this wonderful vehicle for the last 12 years. Honestly, I love this thing so much I was always planning to be buried it in. Then Land Rover made the monumentally stupid decision to stop making the Defender. That's like saying "hold up lads, I've had an idea; lets stop making bacon" (I'm going out on a limb here and guessing if you're shopping for a 4.0ltr V8 Land Rover you're probably not a vegetarian).
The fallout of this decision has seen the value of Defenders keep climbing to a point where I'm frankly priced out, certainly when it comes to very special Defenders like this one. So I'm passing this on to someone who can look after her in the manner she deserves and hope fully there will be enough left over after my darling wife has finished re-decorating to buy myself a humble Series III.
5 years ago this Defender was completely stripped down and rebuilt. No expense was spared. The chassis was sandblasted and recoated and had a new rear crossmember fitted. 3 brand new genuine doors were fitted and a complete respray was done. Recent work (May/June)†carried out has included completely replacing all braking components and a new oil cooler. It has 4 new (less than 1000 miles) BF Goodrich All-Terrains Tyres.

I have receipts for everything, and I really mean everything, including the original sale receipts, all the work listed above and everything listed below. ALL work has been carried out professionally by recognised 4x4 specialist companies. I have MOT certificates up until it was registered on the Isle of Man (we don't have MOT's).

This is not a UK "numbered" 50th. It was one of 4 that were originally built for the Japanese market but were sold by Nene Overland and never left the UK. Nene sold the vehicle in the UK as new to the first registered keeper in Sept 1999.

Side note: It was featured in the May 2010 issue of LRO. A copy of this issue will be included with the sale.

If you have any questions or would like any specific photographs taking please don't hesitate to ask.

* don't use it to hunt Tigers you terrible person. This roof has proved itself invaluable many times. Particularly if you park on the grass hill by Knickerbrook at Oulton Park to watch the racing. Best seat in the house.
