Hi I have a sunroof water leak and it loves pouring water on me
I have fitted a new seal and still leaks
Is it time to get a new Landrover sunroof kit? _________________ GB 260- S50 DEF

the landrover sunroof has that annoying bend in it, whereas the landrover roof is flat, so:
cut a 10cm strip of the glazing rubber for the rear door (c10mm wide, and 1.5mm thick)
jump on the roof, and apply silicone rubber to the 5cm of the rubber seal either side of the winding mechanism. the silicone shd be slightly deeper either side of the winder (ie where the bend in the glass is the greatest)
Lay the rubber strip on top, and wind down the sunroof gently (and not completely) on the whole setup
Clean excess silicone, and open the roof again - leave to dry
seems fairly effective _________________ Rob

The tip above is moderately successful. However, as part of my recent zero tolerance approach to drips of water I have now just put RTV between the glass and the seal of the sunroof, at least for the winter time.
I also had a leak coming from the join in the roof at the top front corner of the driver's side door. Using absorbent blue paper I worked out that the gutter is allowing water into a channel on the inner side of the roof, running forward to the corner, and then dumping water down the inside of the door. This channel is only a couple of mm wide, and I think is the edge of the pressing between the roof and the piece used to form the gutter. I just filled that whole channel with cavity wax - if it doesn't hold then seem sealer in the gutter _________________ Rob

My fault for dredging up an old post, but I imagine Scotty was right in 2012, and you are right today. He hasn't been around since 2013 _________________ Rob

The next one I found is that the screw fittings for the winder on the sunroof, where they pass through the glass have very poor/ deteriorated-by-now foam washers. It's relatively easy to replace these with 10mm ID rubber washers, 1 or 2mm thick. If these washers aren't working then the winder fills up with water - it's incredible how much water will come through this way when the washers have failed _________________ Rob

and lastly - PU seam sealant down the inside edge of the gutter where the roof and the lower gutter piece have been pressed/ spot welded together. Fingers crossed that has put paid to the regular dump I was getting above and inside the drivers door after it rained and I'd started driving _________________ Rob
