Who are people insured with?
Had my Adrian Flux renewal through; and thought i'd check elsewhere.

Just putting the info into the meerkat comparison site and declaring a value of £30K gave several choices at the top - much cheaper than the specialist.

The very top was Admiral who I've even heard of.

Considering Adrian Flux are a specialist; who also claim to provided a % discount based on being a club member - how can they be much higher than "normal" type insurance companies.

Its a second car - limited to 5000 miles and ZERO NCB as i have full on my everyday car - all taken into account.

Any recommendations?

did multi-car via Admiral; it halved the renewal on the 50th and for my everyday car is similar if not slightly cheaper then before.

Pretty much like for like; and i could declare the colour change of the 50th without causing any issues - and got to speak to a real person in the end (an American accent!)

Thumbs down for Adrian Flux, also tried Lancaster and they were lightly more expensive than AF.

A multi-car policy wasn't something i'd even considered - but definitely worth looking into - and the website was really easy to use; once happy it did prompt me to speak to an adviser who just check and confirmed all the details.

I’ve got an Admiral multi car policy too.

Flux were the last insurer I used when I had GB248. I sold it, 3 months into a £258 policy and their refund was £65. After a number of conversations they increased their refund to £85 but with all the spurious charges it just ate up, what I considered to be the real refund amount.

I wouldn't touch Flux again with a barge pole and the internet is littered with stories of their sharp practice on refunding policies that are cancelled mid term.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

Bear in mind though chaps that declaring a value on a 'normal' insurance policy doesn't mean much in terms of what they'll pay out. Really for a classic car you need an Agreed Valuation - hence the need to use a specialist. If you don't have an Agreed Valuation they certainly won't pay out what the cars actually worth.

only if you go down the process of getting it valued and approved.
I went down that route with AF spent ages giving it a clean and taking the photos etc... and included receipts and then after chasing they said they were unable to value it.

I think times are changing; the terminology used by Admiral was when you hover over the information in the valuation box is... "enter how much it would cost to replace the vehicle with the same vehicle of the same specification similar age and condition etc."

As 50ths are very specific they would find it difficult to wriggle.

I'm happy to take my chances - no guarantee what AF would pay-out until you find out the hard way; even with approved valuation for £18

I had the same trouble with agreed value as well as terrible and rude customer service. Specialist nature of 50ths makes them tricky!
