My idle is running between 850 and 1000 rpm in an erratic manner,OBD plug in has thrown up camshaft position sensor fault has anybody experienced this?
Of all the sensors this has got to be a bit of a pig to get at,wondering whether this is just fouling or likely to be a replacement,if it is the original sensor it will have clocked only about 56,500 miles!

Following on from some advice from a guru on such things it appears that the crankshaft and camshaft sensor can become out of sync when an engine is cranked but doesn’t run and rolls backwards on stopping. The crankshaft sensor can appear to become miss timed and affects the camshaft which is equally then confused.

Fortunately my OBD Link MX not only identified the fault but allows the fault to be cleared from the ECU.As a complete layman on all these electrical sensors and what can trigger them this unit is boon and thanks go to Mark Adams of Tornado Systems for it’s supply and advice.

Somewhat relieved in not having to access the camshaft sensor!
