I don't get why some dealers find the need to straight out lie about a vehicle's history.

Quote from their site "This particular car has just arrived from Japan a dry non-salt environment where it lived in a private collection of over a 100 interesting and historically significant cars. "

Truth - They probably know nothing about that cars history at all.

However that particular 50th (chassis number ending --8035), far from coming from a collection of historic cars in Japan, was actually sold as a *** rating in auction in Japan in December 2013 before being bought and restored by a Land Rover specialists for a private customer who then shipped it to UK and later sold it in a Norfolk Classic auction for £15,000 in January 2015 so whilst it was a nice Defender when I saw it at the auction it has probably been in the UK nearly 2 years now (so hardly a new arrival) and has a somewhat different past to the one they are suggesting.

When you describe your LDV as a donkey cart, do you actually have donkeys? Just interested as my wife has some.

i always feel the best way to treat any dealer (new or used) is to take whatever they say - half it, half it again, and forget it....

Make ones own judgement by inspection and background checks where possible - although your knowledge on this one is rather good - well done you !

My wife and daughter have what I call Donkeys - they would prefer I called them horses. Its a LDV 3.5T Convoy with an Ifor Williams container on top - about to be replaced though (despite only having done about 18k miles from new ) Rolling Eyes
