This is one of the very very rare ones that were I believe mat black from new, think there werre either 2 or 3 - James will know more - that were bought by some IT guy for his estate. Certainly has history. I think Adam on here has one of these??

£20k purchase + £10k restoration then sell for £40k = £10k profit.
Or am I missing something ...

No, you're not missing anything, it's what I said a couple of weeks ago. Some ordinary Defender 90s are up for crazy prices. See this:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201605143943555?search-target=usedcars&price-to=27500&page=1&sort=pricedesc&model=defender_90&price-from=22500&radius=1500&postcode=rg12lu&searchcontext=default&make=land_rover&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&colour=green&logcode=p

Some 'new' ones are up for £40,000 and James French has a hardtop up for almost £36,000 that is two years old!

that looks like a rattle can job if ever I've seen one, and it looks like the wings smacked up...
I suspect the black rattle spray is hiding a whole host of nasty surprises

I'm not sure why Simon said that.
A good low owner, low mileage 50th is getting hard to find. Most need paint now so restoring this one could make perfect sense.

The cheapest 50th we have at the moment is Albert's, and I feel sure that you could get it for £17,000. So I don't quite understand what's holding some buyers back, it seems to be great for that price. Restore it for £13,000 (it might not even need Simon's full touch) and you'd have a £45,000 50th for £30,000. What's not good about that? GB145 just went for £17,000, and it was a bit good for that price (black chequerplate, engine mods and bigger wheels, too). I don't think the new owner has yet joined this club.

I don't think the 'one to avoid' comment referred to the 50th but rather some of the comparisons made with other Defenders.

Yes, Robert. I took it to mean that Simon was referring to the Autotrader one that I posted a link to.

I don't think we have quite seen the £45k 50th yet, but feel free to pm me if you would like one. Very Happy
