|Hello one and all
I intend to fit 4 Hella FF50 lights to the roll cage - each lamp has an H7 55 watt lamp in it - so total wattage is 220
I have a question for any electrical/electronic wizards out there. I understand electrics and relays pretty well however I would love to be able to switch them via a change over relay which would in position 1 run them with a reduced current going through them so they just glow - ie as a side light (running light) then when the relay is switched/triggered to position 2 they run at full. What I need to work out is the resistor size required - I have tried one light with a resistor (50W 6R8 RS # 160-922) I had lying around and I got a very small glow. The question is therefore what size resistor would I need to say run all 4 lamps at twice the glow ?
In this way I only need run at most 2 wire up to the roll cage (+ & neg/-). I may get away with 1 if the roll cage acts as a suitable neg/-, has anyone found there is a good enough neg/- up top on the mounting position.
Any ideas, thoughts much appreciated - or just tell me I'm mad & I'll go for plan B - drilling the glass unit and use an LED.
