Hi everyone,
Is below the received wisdom for the coil springs (copied from Allan) ? Has anyone actually fitted them and ended up with a level 50th? Just wanted to be sure before I start to replace my 20 yo suspension (which has done a great job). I just want standard, no funny stuff
Front...
No specific spring rate listed for 50 LE (Springs listed for 90 / 110 / 110HD & 130)
NRC 9446 Spring - road - coil - front - blue - green -> 90 driver
175lb/in 15.19" long 7.75 coils
NRC9447 Spring - road - coil - front - blue - yellow -> 90 passenger
175lb/in. 14.8" long 7.75 coils
Rear...
Specific for 50 LE (90 HD suspension springs have the same colour coding but a different part number - rates are for 90 HD springs)
RKB101230 Spring - road - coil - rear - red - green - yellow -> driver 50 LE
210 -> 240 progressive lb/in 15.25" long 9.2 coils
RKB 101240 Spring - road - coil - rear - yellow - green - white -> passenger 50 LE
210 -> 240 progressive lb/in 14.81" long 9.2 coils _________________ Rob

I went for a new set of springs when I has mine restored a couple of years ago and you're right, there is no mention of specific springs for the 50th. When they were put on the front was high up in the air, as the standard springs are for a heavy diesel, not a lightweight V8. When I put the new front springs next to the old one they were definitely heavier duty, so I just used the old ones. For Disco's and Range Rovers there are different front springs depending on whether it's a diesel, or V8. The rear springs are standard heavy duty. |

Thanks Mike
Has anyone successfully changed the front coils, and if so, for what?

Changed the front right shock today. After a bit of a clean the spring revealed blue green, so the coil spec for that corner seems right
Coming in at 38.5cm long, with a 15mm coil width _________________ Rob

The original passenger side is definitely blue/ yellow too, underneath the body seal. I'm not replacing for now though, they actually seem surprisingly good, even after 21 years _________________ Rob

i just stumbled across the spring ratings in the V8i supplement of the workshop manual S04 General Spec page 7.
Front
DR NRC 9446 Blue green
Pa NRC 9447 blue yellow
Rear
Dr NRC 9448 red blue
pa NRC 9449 yellow white
These rear specs are different from what has been posted previously, I think. I tend to believe the workshop manual. Thoughts? Does this explain why some folks installed replacements and didn't get the right stance ? _________________ Rob
