Well I sold my 303 sold on ebay....allegedly! Unfortunately this guy turned out to be a troll. Turned up at the prescribed time, looked out of his window at the car in our drive, and as I went up to him to see who he was, he sped off. He didn't even have a partner with him, nor a trailer, so he would have had to have been a magician to complete the deal. When I asked him what he was up to over text later, he said it was a "waste of time and not original". On asking him to elaborate, he said it had a lift kit which is not original Overfinch. I promptly sent him the history file of the mods done by Overfinch themselves (not by a 3rd party) back in 2003, which included modifying the suspension. The extensive ebay photos show all this, plus slightly sub standard paintwork in my opinion, so I could have held him to it, but cannot be bothered, especially as he called me a t@a* for reporting it to ebay.
The images show some TLC required on the paintwork (the usual electrolytic corrosion around the rivets and some bubbling), hence only asking £26,995. It is a good clean 50th with a solid chassis and bulkhead, which I am only selling because I commute in it and load carry into the congestion charge, which becomes unaffordable from April at £100 per day. I want to switch to an uncomfortable in comparison historic Lightweight Series IIa in top nick instead, as these vehicles are exempt and should hold value. If I can't sell, or have more egrets coming my way, I'll figure out a way to keep it juggling between wife's car and another old classic I have.
This bloke who messed about has been looking for a 50th for a long time (so he says), so watch out any sellers. I will corroborate his name confidentially if anyone get a bid for a 50th and wants to audit the name. We need protection from these types. If he had the courtesy to knock on my door and have me show him round in detail and then found proper fault, then all's fair. I am a reasonable chap. |
