|
|
I've had a problem with my 50th for a couple of months that has been slowly getting worse. The new exhaust doesn't affect it. It's the same as before.
When the engine is cold, the idle is around 800-900 RPM, but when it gets warm the idle (in neutral) is up over 1000 and even as high as 1500 rpm.
Does anyone know what commonly causes this problem? I did a quick search and people have mentioned a stepper motor or stepper valve problem. I'm not sure what a stepper is, let alone how it could affect idling.
Can anyone shed some light on this fast idle problem? Thanks in advance.
cheers

I had a similar problem a while back and swapped stepper motor which didn't cure it, in the end the garage solved it, apparently there was a couple of air leaks in the inlet system after the MAF. Probably why every join and seal is covered in blue sealant now. _________________ No 355. Black 50th |

Thanks folks.
It only happens when she's warmed up. I'll get my mechanic to investigate...
cheers

I'm posting this update in case anyone has a similar problem in future.
The root cause of the fast idling when warm was the throttle potentiometer. Swapped it out and the idling issue went away immediately. It was a bit of a journey to get there (replacement of two exhaust sensors which were shwoign faults and a Air Flow Sensor which probably wasn't faulty).
Anyway - happy now.
cheers
