Hi All,

Do you of you know if the car would have been supplied with Bonnet insulation?

There is none on mine and I wondered if it should be there.

Any of you replaced it?

Any good sources? - there is a lot of choice out there - I think the obvious choice would be the Landcover original part - but it doesn't seem to match - seems to be for a different version.

Cheers.

Hello,

No there was no insulation / soundproofing fitted as standard.

The bonnet is not a standard Tdi or Td5 unit but based I think on the NAS Defender.

I fitted Noise Killer https://www.nkgroup.co.uk/product-category/vehicles/land-rovers/page/2/ to mine but it wasn't very good as there is a great deal of heat generated from the V8 lump and it fell off, so I have removed it.

You could try Dynamat or SoundKiller and do a custom fit using either the pads or sheet form. I think most people would say leave without as the engine bay does get quite hot!

Thanks Simon,

Nice to know I am not missing a part - I hate to be left out.

Great point on the heat from the engine - I think I will just leave it alone - probably if fitting it was a real possibility, Land Rover would of done it themselves.

Cheers

Hi Robert,

Let the heat out and enjoy the V8 sound Smile

Yep - I think that is the best plan!

I have plenty of other jobs to do on the new toy;

- Diff needs rebuilding, noisy as anything, local Landy specialist is confident it can be re-done, though he thinks front Diff may be the next to be done.

- I'm replacing the standard seats with Exmoor Trim Elite ones with Rayleigh trim - the existing ones are as good as most, but my previous Defender had the Elite seats and I notice the difference.....

- New rear door and various bits of paintwork

But it drives terrifically and is huge fun.
