|
|
Hi All,
I think someone may have tried to steal my wheels the other night. I spotted that one of the locking wheel nuts had been removed and the dust cover was off a second. Looks like they were disturbed or gave up. I've replaced the locking nuts with a new set and have bought a disklok for good measure.
Anyway - if the thieves had been successful, or if they come back again - are the original 50th wheels still available? Were they used on any other LR's?
Thanks

They are just freestyle alloys 16" and used on Discovery ES. (same grey on silver colour scheme.)
I bought a complete refurbished set of 5 from ebay for less than £300, so not particularly sought after or expensive, so unusual that yours have been targeted.
People want Sawtooth or Twisted alloys, normally 18" not the old freestyle type.
Are you sure yours have been tampered with, I've had the cover go missing during a drive, maybe the locking nut has worked loose and come off?
I check my nuts regularly... and they need a slight turn from time to time.
Example set on ebay for £199 plus postage. A professional refurb wouldn't cost too much either. Not the solution - hopefully they wont return.

Thanks. That's a relief.
I'm pretty sure they were targetted as I'd only checked my tyre pressures two days earlier and I'm 99% sure I would have noticed then. Admittedly I've not checked the torques recently.
thanks
