Does anybody have a close up of the gear lever where it goes through the sliding plastic? The gap around my shaft seems to be bigger than I remember it when I tucked it away for the winter

Your ball's dropped...
You may need a new roller deck sheet as the
The ball has come detached from it

Yeah your ball has gone down the shaft. The ball has a plastic bit round it so you may be able to re fit it but might damage the roll deck. Problem is your probably going to need to remove the NAS tunnel to get at it. It might be best just to put a new gear selector on.
Here is some pics of a gear selector I have in the shed

Thanks for the quick replies guys, so I've dropped a ball off my shaft A quick search of BTR9926LNF looks to be about £120 so not as bad as I expected. Does the console have to come out to fit the auto selector?

Yeah that's what you need, best to do it as the plastic where the P, R, D etc is does deteriorate.
Yeah your need to remove the console. Just take your time and it's easy.
I find slacking off the air con give more room to get the console out. Pop the vents out and the plugs from the bottom and you can slacken the screws from the bottom holes.
Top of the gear knob pops off, remove the clip and button and undo the nut.
Rest is self explanatory. There is a couple of clips down the front.
Have fun! |

There's a giude with some photos; it helped mine when i installed LED lights and had to get to the flasher replay.
You do really have to lift the console from the rear and a 45 degrees to get it to clear the air con dash bits - but not too tricky.
Refitting is the same - the angle is the key.
Once you've done it once you'll see its not too bad. |

Well my job for the weekend is to fit this
Got it from Dan @ Duckworths for £105.00 including VAT & Postage. I did try to get the square trim that fits around the outside of the selector but it is no longer available Looking at the Discovery it uses the same selector but a different part number for the trim so I thought I would order one of them as they were only £7 but after Dan put the order in he had word from the factory that the Disco one was now discontinued
