CAR NOW AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AT MOTODROME (0118 907 1495 office/0771 906 9353 mobile).
GB063 is a superb Simon Durant full restoration with the added piquancy of a delightful patina. And, not only was it restored by Simon to his usual high standards, but it was also owned by him at the time, so you can imagine that he was extra fastidious in bringing her back to a better than new factory standard with no expense spared.
In addition, it is one of the somewhat rarer 50ths on a 1999 T plate rather than the more numerous 1998 S plates. Its (original) registration number of T63 BSO complements the edition number of GB 063.
Under Simons hand, GB 063 had the following:
A full respray
Re-powder coated Roll Cage
Re-powder coated NAS rear step
Re-powder coated steering guard
New bumper
New A bar
New head lamp surrounds
New radiator grill
New chequered plate Wing tops, Sides, Rear 1/4s and NAS step
New rear fog light
New reversing light
New number plate light
New rubbers on all windows
New windscreen
New sliding rear windows
Tip top Seats from another 50th
New tyres
Refurbished alloys
New pads and discs
Replaced manifolds and gaskets
stainless steel bolts on all door hinges even the front air vent hinges
New stainless steel bulkhead bolts
New stainless steel bumper bolts front and rear
New rear seat stainless steel bolts
1001 other new stainless bolts
New mud flaps front and rear
New shocks front and rear
New steering damper
Wax oiled
New exhaust system from the cat back
New 50th V8 decals
As luck would have it, after Simons ownership, it fell into the hands of another real enthusiast who set about making it even better by fitting:
A Mark Adams chip
A Mantec swing away spare wheel carrier
Silicone hoses
Original Land Rover driving lamps
Aluminium front door hinges
Chrome rear door and bonnet hinges
Chrome air intake
Croytec aluminium instrument surrounds
Under bonnet detailing
The car has covered 89,000 miles with a full service history. Services have been carried out at 6000, 12164, 23,967, 35876, 40000, 45937, 49562, 56311, 67515, 72000, 80909 and 85000 miles, all of which are stamped in the Service Record. Since then, services are evidenced by invoices at 86500, 87195, 88273 and 88897 miles. It is MOT'd until July 2017.
GB 063 is offered for sale at £36,000 which represents great value for money for what is one of the best 50ths around.

Still no offers - not even a cheeky one!
Thinking about bringing it south for a dealer to sell on commission. Any suggestions? Motodrome is one possibility - know of any others?

The car does look stunning, but clearly the price is the issue. I could be interested but when Nene are offering a refurbishment service to the client's spec for £20-25k, which even if it ends up being £30k, does make GB063 seem expensive.
If a car is priced correctly I personally don't think the location is hugely influential. I live in Berkshire, and for the right car I would happily jump on a train - especially when we are talking about a classic car.
Good luck, I hope my opinions don't offend, and I hope you achieve what you are looking for. |

Thanks for your input Lune.
Yep, price may be an issue for some people, location may also be an issue. I've had a couple of people put off by distance despite the fact, like you, I'm happy to travel for the right car (and have done). So, I can remedy that bit and price will be dictated by the market. Or, why not jump on a train?
Offend? of course not - although comparing a Simon Durant restoration to a Nene one is pretty close.

Yep, it's your erstwhile lodger Peter.
I think I'll do just that. Any suggestions for a dealer? It's then just a matter of timing.

GB063 is now available to view at Motodrome by calling 0118 907 1495 or 0771 906 9353.
I drove it the 400 miles there yesterday and it never missed a beat. Just realised that I've driven it only 2500 miles in 3 years and 400 of that was yesterday!
That underscores the decision to sell although a great day's driving almost made me change my mind!

Seen her on Ebay via dealer, good luck Robert
I updated my Gatwick pal Paul Wiltshire who owned GB063 a few years ago and joined mine on a L2B
Loved it, when he had it, total abuse _________________ Peter

Yep, a totally different animal after Simon worked his magic. He really is a supreme restorer.
Motodrome reckon it's absolutely superb and the best 50th on the market (but maybe that's what I told them! )

I'd rather leave it to the new owner to divulge, if he comes on here. But it was less than the £36000 asking price, although within reach.
