Giving your RR to your son is better than just putting dosh into the bank.....ok.

....using money in the bank to purchase a Toyota..........!
Here is where you need to not be duped into buying things because they are called Invincible.........if they have had to call it that above its model name then it most likely isn't invincible, if you get my drift???! Wink

There was no need to change cars, just that I was so relaxed about it, it placed me firmly in the driving seat on negotiations with dealer

Ended up with £ 7480 off list, and a style pack £ 2600 added - for £ 1000

I did look at a newish RR, but for same money, all I could get was about 3 years old with 30k

My RR has only done 34k - so dead duck, notwithstanding I don't like the modern RRs or RRS or Discos - they are all smaller and look the same as each other

On the Invincible front - The Land Cruiser does not come with Invincible badges

Junior parts assistant checked and said that Toyota don't do raised chrome badge or any other sort for the LC

I marched Him over to the corner of the showroom and duly pointed out 3 badges affixed to lower front doors and tailgate of a Toyota Hilux Pickup Invincible

He said, but I thought you wanted the badges for a Land Cruiser Sir ..

Look Son - let's take this very slowly :

Is it a raised chrome badge ?
Does it spell the word I N V I N C I B L E ?
OK then, let's just cheat
It will be our little secret ..

You honestly couldn't make it up

I have been to War with Toyota -bit of David & Goliath

I upgraded to a set of black diamond cut Pinnacle wheels - very smart

Spotted that I had just 4 - the full size spare was a normal silver alloy

Dealer said whoops, we will sort that

Toyota dug their heels in stating that a set is just 4

Took the opinion of 6 other Toyota dealers - none had come across the problem but would also have expected 5

Lodged an official complaint and accelerated it

Toyota would not budge, stating £ 385 and you can have a 5th

Your brochure and website doesn't state 4, in fact it doesn't state 1 2 3 4 or 5

Still no joy and now getting the right hump, funny how attitudes change once you have paid for the car, all over me like a rash before then ..

So i went into trump card mode

How any 'l' in Rottweiler - cause you just met one

Congrats for the massive publicity for spending £ 1/2 billion in Derby etc
supporting the UK & Brexit and stuff, all over the TV & papers etc

Let me propose to add to your publicity

Do you know what I do for a living and why I bought the Land Cruiser ?

I'm a funeral director and it's a pall bearers car

This coming Saturday, we have a funeral, dear old Mrs Higgins, nice lady, had a good life

I'm going to place the silver alloy on the n/s/f and then video the hearse and my car behind as it enters the crematorium

I see you have an active Facebook page - good

Within the hour my dealer rang to say that they have been given the OK to switch the spare, at no cost to me.

The dealerMD said he thought I was retired ?

I am - and hate funerals ...

As a direct result, Toyota have now changed their car spec web page to clearly state that a set of wheels is just 4

and a complete reprint of all their Land Cruiser brochures across the UK network

David 1 ; Goliath 0

Well done Peter, and a pox on all dealers, main and independent.

Customer service only lasts till your cheque clears.
