Avoid drilled if ever going near dirt as I hear stones can be a real issue and some stories of them cracking?

My understanding that drilled and grooved disks are to help the disk cool to prevent brake fade? Is that correct?

Have you ever had brake fade?

The vented disks on your Defender 90 are the same ones that they fit to a Defender 130 with a max gross train weight of 7 Tonnes (inc trailer) so the standard brakes and pads are pretty good HD set up. Also you may notice some reduced performance if not using Genuine Pads and OEM Disks and maybe a change to standard might work well. I have not found OEM (Ferodo, Britpart, Mintex etc etc) pads to be as good as Genuine. Even if Ferodo make the genuine pads the Genuine ones seem better - I wonder if they are really from exactly the same production line or just from the same factory.

Just after advice, brake discs are getting worn and while at it, I thought possibility of upgrading if it was worth it.
