Hello,

Does anyone have or know where I can get a new fuel tank?

It's discontinued at LR, heat shield wasn't replaced years ago and
its fatigued with the heat of the exhaust.

Thanks a lot.

Nick

Hi,
Maybe a bit late but here goes.
GB114 had a fuel leak.(as if the consumption was not ruinous enough).
The tank is polyethylene and has rings ultrasonically welded for the two breathers. one leaked and my attempt at gluinf only lasted 12 months.
The tak has now been removed, the ring plastic welded back in (needs filler rod of correct grade) by Multi Plastic Fabrication Ltd of Ringwood, they did a beautiful job.
As the cradle was rusted T Johnson Land Rover are fitting a stainless cradle .The genuine LR mild steel part is available still though.
While they were at it they also welded the lugs for the heat shield back on and replaced the self tappers with ss socket head screws and m6 inserts, also ss.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me,

Bob of DAS landrover in Horley Surrey.
managed to make a plate and bonded it to the original tank.

Seems to be working, he also replaced the heat shield which must have been
removed when I had it Kleentected some centuries ago,

Although there were a few other things damaged in the Kleentect process the chassis has lasted really well.

Thanks for all the parts info very useful

Best

Nick

Forgot to say,

That's a fantastic collection of kit,

I was at War and Peace this year and they had a couple of Scammells on demo
fantastic wheel articulation,

Volvo also excellent, best shape, I used to drive a little 10 ton truck in the 70's
and thought I'd get a go in one one day! ha! ended up in a completely different place.

Steam schooner? is that real? just looked at a pic looks amazing.

Toyota is a very wise choice indeed, a friend of mine has just bought an L reg
in perfect nick , he also bought a Fendt tractor too, which I'm privileged to have a go on!

My only other vehicle is a Merc 280sl pagoda, so I'm a bit behind!!

Thanks again

Best

Nick

Can't see any reason why the TD5 tank should work, its the same size and mounts in exactly the same way.

Worth noting as well that the Italian 2.0MPI used the same fuel tank as the 50th and there are dozens of them scrap in Italy
