Hi All

A little problem -any ideas.

Starts cold everytime. But if I run to the shops I have trouble restarting within the next 2 hours. Starts then instantly revs fall to zero & cuts out. Or sometimes starts but revs fall and rise 0.2 to 0.5 (when cold revs sit at 1 nicely). Sometimes have to limp home revving and breaking ..... Argh! It's a pain

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Stepper motor needs a clean or replacing. Undo electric plug and remove motor from Plenum chamber intake. Cleaning may work, but not last long.

Isn't there a procedure for ensuring stepper is retracted before removal as with hotwire efi?

When it is started from cold, try putting on ac headlights etc all at once while turning steering wheel. This will strain the engine from ac pump, alternator and steering pump all at once and stepper should compensate, raising idle speed to prevent stalling.

Could also be as simple as a tensioned throttle cable perhaps. If the throttle butterfly doesn't shut, the stepper may not adjust idle speed.

I had this problem for a long time changed the stepper motor also the MAF no change. Very frustrating problem very nearly came to selling, until a auto electrician had a look and chased the problem down to a poor earth connection in wiring causing the voltage readings required for things to run smoothly being dragged down.simple fix no problems since, maybe something to look at if you still have this issue.
